- People experiencing work or stress-related chronic muscular pain, including low back, neck, and shoulder pain
- People seeking to improve mobility after bed-rest due to surgery or illness
- People experiencing fibromyalgia
- Anyone who wishes to reduce muscular tension or improve the quality of their movement
Workshop Activities
- Welcome and introductory information on the science of chronic pain (30 minutes)
- ATM lesson 1--Introduction to body scanning lying down (30 minutes)
- 10 minute break
- ATM lesson 2--Get your back back! Gentle twisting lesson to relax tired back muscles and improve comfort standing, walking, and sitting (60 minutes)
- 5 minute break
- Goal setting and group discussion. Discover ways to integrate what you've learned into daily life! (30 minutes)
- Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. (No jeans, skirts, or dresses)
- Water bottle (movements are not strenuous, but you may want a drink)
- A towel, scarf, or soft blanket to use for beneath your head
- Yoga mats/blankets will be provided, but you may use your own if you wish.
